چکیده

Background The peach Lipid Transfer Protein (LTP), Pru p 3, is considered to be a major allergen in peach allergy, but sensitization to it is almost always present in LTP-syndrome. Thus, detection of Pru p 3 specific IgE (sIgE) is frequent in routine peach and/or LTP allergy diagnosis. ImmunoCAP is one of the most frequent immunoassays for specific IgE detection, with a 0.1kU/L detection limit, although 0.35kU/L has traditionally been adopted as the positivity cutoff. The aim was to analyze the prevalence and clinical relevance of low levels of Pru p 3 sIgE in a cohort of patients diagnosed of peach sensitization.

Differential diagnosis of LTP-sensitised patients in Central Europe

Lipid transfer protein (LTP) is a major allergen in peach often causing anaphylactic reactions with a high prevalence of sensitization in the Mediterranean area. The prevalence of LTP sensitization in Central Europe is currently unknown, where the diagnosis is complicated by a high background sensitization to the major birch pollen allergen, Bet v 1, and Bet v 1 cross-reactive food allergens, w...

LTP cross-reactivity - primary sensitization to mugwort pollen LTP Art v 3, facilitates subsequent sensitisation to peach LTP Pru p 3 in mice

Non-specific lipid transfer proteins (nsLTPs) are important pollen and food allergens in the Mediterranean area. Peach LTP Pru p 3 is considered as primary sensitizer inducing LTP cross-reactive IgE antibodies. Despite the evidence on the importance of Pru p 3, it is unclear whether reactivity to multiple LTPs is due to antibody cross-reactivity or to independent sensitization events. Aim of th...

Peanut sensitization pattern in Norwegian children and adults with specific IgE to peanut show age related differences

BACKGROUND Peanuts contain potent food allergens and the prevalence of allergy is reported to increase, especially in children. Since peanut sensitization may differ between different geographical regions, we wanted to investigate the sensitization pattern to the individual peanut allergens in a Norwegian population. METHODS Cases reported to the Norwegian Food Allergy Register with sera posi...

Different co-sensitizations could determine different risk assessment in peach allergy? Evaluation of an anaphylactic biomarker in Pru p 3 positive patients

BACKGROUND In Italy, the nsLTP (Pru p 3) has been identified as the most frequent cause of food allergy and anaphylaxis. In order to estimate the risk assessment in peach allergy, we investigated the presence of correlations between the levels of sIgE to Pru p 3 with the severity of the clinical symptoms in two Pru p 3 positive populations from two different areas of Italy. METHODS 133 consec...

Performance of component resolved microarray diagnosis in fruits allergy

Performance of commercially available component resolved microarray has not been widely evaluated in food allergy. Fruit allergy is a prevalent food allergy in which component resolved diagnosis is crucial. In the context of a multicentric study on pollen and vegetable food allergy in Spain, we enrolled patients (n=137) who had suffered at least two episodes of immediate symptoms after ingestio...
